Culturally Tailored HPV Psychoeducational Multimedia Intervention
STUDY OVERVIEW
The University of Texas at El Paso is conducting a study in the El Paso, Texas, U.S.-Mexico Border Region to compare the effectiveness of psychoeducational multimedia interventions aimed at increasing HPV vaccination rates among adults aged 18-45. Our hypothesis is that culturally tailored multimedia stories encouraging HPV vaccination will lead to higher vaccine uptake rates among vaccine-naive adults in this community. Participants will be recruited to participate in the intervention, and we aim to assess their vaccine intentions and uptake rates compared to those exposed to standard HPV vaccination materials.
STUDY GOALS
The primary goal of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a culturally tailored multimedia intervention in increasing HPV vaccine intentions and uptake rates among vaccine-naive adults aged 18-45 in the El Paso, Texas, U.S.-Mexico Border Region. Specifically, we aim to compare the vaccine intentions and uptake rates of participants exposed to culturally tailored multimedia stories promoting HPV vaccination with those exposed to standard HPV vaccination materials. Through this comparison, we seek to identify strategies that can effectively improve HPV vaccine uptake in this community and contribute to public health efforts aimed at reducing HPV-related diseases.
