Abraham Arzola, B.S. - Director of Research
Abraham Arzola is a highly accomplished and dedicated professional who has dedicated his career to advancing medical research and improving patient care. He has a solid academic background and has received numerous accolades for his work in the field.
Mr. Arzola began his academic career by earning a Bachelor of Science in biology with a biomedical concentration and a minor in psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso. During his undergraduate studies, he was awarded the prestigious MARC research scholarship for his exceptional academic performance and dedication to research.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Mr. Arzola conducted academic research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he focused on identifying the neural substrates of behavior. His research at NIH provided valuable insights into the workings of the human brain and helped advance our understanding of behavior and cognition.
In addition to his research at NIH, Mr. Arzola founded an educational consulting company to assist students with hard-to-grasp concepts in science. His educational consulting company helped many students succeed academically and better understand complex scientific concepts.
Mr. Arzola also oversees a neuroscience research lab focused on elucidating the mysteries behind Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. His work in the lab has helped advance our understanding of these devastating diseases and has brought us closer to developing effective treatments and cures.
As the Director of Research for El Paso Clinical Trials, Mr. Arzola works tirelessly to advance medicine for patients in the El Paso area. His dedication to medical research and patient care has earned him a reputation as a leading professional
Sergio Alvarado, M.D. - Principal Investigator
Sergio Alvarado is a highly experienced and respected Sports and Family Medicine physician born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He is deeply committed to his community and is dedicated to providing his patients with the highest quality medical care.
Dr. Alvarado began his academic career by earning a Bachelor of Science from Our Lady of The Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. He then pursued his medical degree from the prestigious Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico. After completing his medical degree, Dr. Alvarado returned to El Paso to continue his training.
In 2011, Dr. Alvarado completed his residency in Family Medicine at Texas Tech Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. During his residency, he gained extensive experience in various medical areas, including internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, and gynecology.
Following his residency, Dr. Alvarado acquired his fellowship training in Sports Medicine at John Peter Smith Health Network in Arlington, Texas. This additional training allowed him to specialize in diagnosing, treating, and preventing sports-related injuries and conditions.
Dr. Alvarado is a member of several professional organizations, including the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. His expertise and commitment to excellence have earned him a reputation as a leading physician in his field.

Jose Villanueva, M.B.A, M.P.H - Recruitment Coordinator

Mr. Villanueva began his academic career by earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management from the University of Texas at El Paso. His diverse academic background in science and business has given him unique skills and knowledge, allowing him to excel in his career.
In addition to his Biology and Business Administration degrees, Mr. Villanueva earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health. His expertise in public health has allowed him to understand and address the complex challenges faced by the healthcare industry.
Mr. Villanueva has also conducted academic research at the University of Texas at El Paso. He worked to identify the subset of scAbs that block CCR7-directed migration of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia into the CNS as lead candidates for potential T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia therapies. His research has helped advance our understanding of this devastating disease and has brought us closer to developing effective treatments and cures.
